Our COVID-19 Response

As we all make the adjustment to our "new normal", in the wake of COVID-19, here are some precautions we are taking at AKC to protect our children, staff, and families.

  1. DO NOT get out of your car at drop in and drop off.  A staff member will meet you at your car.  If no one meets you, text Nikki at 870-260-2809.

  2. You must sign a ONE TIME wavier for your file (as will all staff members), and a DAILY (meaning EVERYDAY) wellness checklist, then a staff member will walk your student to sanitize their hands and complete a wellness check inside.

  3. Your student will not be allowed to bring ANYTHING inside.  NO PHONES. Lunches will be provided by the public schools.  The only exception will be students with a health issue and are on a specific dietary restriction.

  4. If your student shows signs of COVID 19, he/she will be quarantined from the facility for 14 days or until we have a doctors note.  NO EXCEPTIONS. This also applies to staff.

  5. Wellness checks will be completed inside the center upon arrival and at noon.  This also applies to staff.

  6. Students will remain with the same teacher all day, In groups of 10 or less.  They will have the same classroom and same groups of students.  They will have outside and gym time.

  7. Students will be made to wash their hands or sanitize every hour.

  8. As it would be difficult to keep all students 6 feet apart, we will do our best to maintain at least a no touching rule.  Bare with us, this is going to be difficult with children.

  9. There will be other staff sanitizing and disinfecting ALL the time. There will also be deep cleaning after hours.

  10. We will work with students on AMI through PBS kids as long as it continues.  I will print the packets, do NOT bring anything from home.  If you need something due to AMI, text me.  I will print it.

Daily Checklist

The daily checklist that all parents must answer and sign prior to drop-off will be as follows:

  • Has anyone in my family traveled to an area classified by the CDC as a hotspot or out of state in the past 14 days?

  • Has my child or anyone in my family been in contact with a person with a known case of COVID 19 within the last 14 days?

  • Has my child or anyone in my family had a fever of 99.6 or higher in the past 14 days?

  • Has my child or anyone in my family had a sore throat in the past 14 days?

  • Has my child or anyone in my family had unexplained exhaustion in the past 14 days?

  • Has my child or anyone in my family had a persistent cough or breathing difficulties in the past 14 days?

  • Has my child or anyone in my family had diarrhea or vomiting in the past 14 days?

  • Has my child or anyone in my family been self-quarantined due to  COVID-19 within the last 14 days?

If yes is answered to any question above, the child may not enter the facility for 14 days from this date unless a physician's note is provided with an explanation.
