Arkadelphia Kid's Club was established by Third Street Baptist Church in August 2001, as a ministry to help the working families of this church, families from other churches, and the unchurched of the community, with their childcare needs during out of school time. TSBC recognized at this time that our community was lacking in available quality programs for school-age children. With the completion of the Family Life Center, space became available to provide such a program. A board of directors was selected by the church, an executive director appointed, and finally the application and acceptance of a child care facility license by the State of Arkansas. The facility is licensed to accommodate up to 80 children.
Out of school programs are vital to our children. The term “out of school” includes not just the “after school” hours, but summer, holidays and other times school is dismissed as well.
To provide a safe, supportive, Christian atmosphere for children when school is not in session.
To provide support for working families.
To improve children’s academic achievement.
To provide a place for children to have fun!
School-age children, kindergarten through sixth grade. Students enrolled in Arkadelphia Public School’s Pre-Kindergarten program may participate if they are five years old. Children are enrolled on first-come, first-serve basis.
Hours of Operation
Afterschool Hours: Monday – Friday, 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Summer Hours: Monday – Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm
The center will provide care on other days that school is dismissed on an “as needed” basis, and as staff is available.
Afterschool: The regular weekly fee for after-school care is $45 per child. Part-time enrollment will be considered if space is available. The fee for enrollment is $9 per day, per child. Discounts to siblings apply.
Summer and Holidays: When public school is dismissed, and AKC has the resources to remain open, the fee will be $18 a day, per child. You will be notified in advance the days that AKC can be available to you on an all day basis.
An enrollment fee of $30 per child is due at the time of application for enrollment. You are responsible for paying each week even if your child did not attend his/her scheduled days. A reduced rate is given to families with multiple children.
Payment is due at each Friday by 5:30 p.m. If paying monthly, payment shall be made the first week of the month. Accounts with a balance of 30 days will be referred to the Board of Directors for appropriate administrative action.
Every afternoon, immediately following snack, students are welcome to visit the homework room where there is a staff member available to assist them.
They will help in all academic areas and check their homework before they are dismissed. This is optional; if parents insist that their child attend, please notify the director.
Students are assigned into groups with a teacher who will lead them in a 15 minute afternoon devotion. These devotions are a time to build relationships with each other and build individual character.
Students are provided with a nutritious snack as soon as they arrive from school. Juice and milk are also provided daily.
While at AKC, students have access to a variety of technology in the Game Room. Here they can play and learn on technology such as iPads, Play Station, Xbox, Wii, and more.
Weekly field trips are scheduled, with some requiring extra fees. All field trips will be posted a week ahead of time in order to provide parents with plenty of notice. If you would not like your child to attend the field trip, it may be arranged for them to stay back at AKC with another teacher or group. However, all students who would like to attend, will be allowed to, regardless of ability to pay extra fees. No students will be left behind. Parents are welcome to attend the field trips as well.
During the summer months, AKC will make a weekly trip to the Arkadelphia Aquatic Park every Wednesday. While at the water park, students will have 2 hours to swim and play during a time exclusively available to AKC students. The cost of admission is covered by their weekly tuition.
During the summer, the devotion time is set up like a Vacation Bible School. The teachers use a themed curriculum and have interactive games and activities throughout the day.
Snacks and Lunch
Students are provided with a nutritious morning and afternoon snack. Lunch is not provided, so students must bring their own packed lunch from home. Juice and milk are available with snack, and by request at lunch.
